Performance EQ in depth analysis as an option for all entries.

How it Works:
Each month competitors from around the world ride and video themselves riding a dressage test and 5 obstacles* from the ease of handling / maneability phase.
The obstacles each month are all ones that you can make at home, in your arena, in your ménage, or even in a corner of your field. There is no need to have expensive WE obstacles to compete.
We will show you how you can create obstacles using items you have around the yard or can very easily source without big cost. You can find our free obstacle making and obstacle riding resources here: https://www.equus.training/we-at-home
*Additional optional obstacles can be ridden each month for riders who have a wooden gate obstacle and a bull & vara / garrocha, and would like to submit them at no additional cost.
The dressage and the obstacles can be practiced and perfected during the month of each competition and videoed individually when you feel you are ready, There is no need to ride and video them all the same day and the obstacles can be ridden and recorded entirely individually. There is no requirement to ride the obstacles in any kind of course or order. In fact it is easier to get them videoed either on your own or with someone helping, so they can be judged if they are ridden and recorded individually.
Because the whole concept of the online training competitions is training, learning, and improving, you record your attempts when you are ready. Once you have recorded your dressage test and each of the obstacles, and are happy with them, they can be uploaded to YouTube and the links submitted to the platform when you are ready, in time for the upload closing date.
(Full details on how to upload them to a private channel are available on the entry page.)
About the classes:
There are 5 classes of competition to choose from. The first four classes are linked to the lower tiers of GB Working Equitation, two junior classes, and 2 senior classes. The fifth class is a "pick your own" class where riders can chose any level of competition from any of the 25 national associations around the world. This opens the training up to everyone no matter where you live and what level you ride at.
All classes are open to horse and rider combinations from any country.
The classes and descriptions are as follows:
- Junior B: For riders 16 years and younger. The dressage test (Junior B) is a walk and trot only test. Obstacles are ridden in walk with the exception of the barrels and the slalom which must be ridden in trot. The jump may be approached in trot, or walk.
- Junior A: For riders 16 years and younger. The dressage test (Junior A) is a novice level test that includes rein back and canter. Obstacles are ridden in walk with the exception of the barrels and the slalom. The barrels are ridden twice, once in trot, once in canter. The slalom must be in trot. The jump may be approached in trot, or canter.
- Walk and Trot: For riders 17 years and older. The dressage test (Walk & Trot) is a walk and trot only test. Obstacles are ridden in walk with the exception of the barrels and the slalom which must be ridden in trot. The jump may be approached in trot, or walk.
- Novice: For riders 17 years and older. The dressage test (Novice) is a novice level test that includes rein back and canter. The jump may be approached in trot, or canter.
- Pick Your Own: For riders of any age. Riders can choose from any level of competition from any of the 25 international WE associations. Want to ride a USAWE L1 Introductory test, you can. Want to practice your ANWE Level 4 Debutant dressage test, this is the class for you. Just enter the country, level and dressage test you have chosen in the notes section of your entry form. The obstacles for the month should be ridden in accordance with the rules of the national association you have chosen.
(You can get full details on how to ride the obstacles at each level and what a judge is looking for on our Competitive WE page: https://www.equus.training/Competitive-WE )

- Enter your details on the form just as you would for a normal event. Add the entry to your basket and checkout. Multiple entries for multiple riders and / or dates can be added to your cart and paid for at the same time.
- Once your entry is confirmed you can start practicing and recording your dressage test and individual obstacles.
- When you have your videos ready and you are happy to submit them, upload them to Youtube as an unlisted video, copying and pasting the links into a "video upload" item here: https://www.equus.training/shop/Online-Working-Equ...
Note, you will need to have already entered and paid for your entry before you submit your video links. The video upload is a free "item" that will ask you for the confirmed order number from your entry that will allow us to match your videos to your entry. Full details of how to create an unlisted video can be found on the video upload item https://www.equus.training/shop/Online-Working-Equ...
There is no rush to get your videos recorded and submitted so take your time and perfect your best version. Videos need to be submitted for any given month by the second Sunday of the following month, For example, if you enter June's competition, you have until the second Sunday in July to submit your videos. - Sit back and wait for your feedback and results to be delivered electronically to you. Feedback is returned to all riders by the end of the following month. For example, if you entered September's competition, your results, sheets and feedback is delivered to your inbox by the end of October.
Riding and recording the dressage test:
Tests can be recorded "hands free" from a fixed position or by someone recording for you with pan and zoom. The video should be filmed to provide a "judge's eye" view from C and not from any other position. If you wish to use a tracking camera app such as Pivo or Pixem that is fine however it is also perfectly acceptable to have your phone set at C and recording you without any "follow technology". Just make sure that you check the view that your camera / phone has before you start riding to make sure the whole arena is in view. The higher you can get your camera to film you the better. If you have a big gap at the start of your recording once you have tapped "record" but before you "enter at A" this can be trimmed easily in most mobile operating system photo apps without the need for any third party software.
Tests will be watched and judged on a large screen so everything will be seen clearly.
Please record your test in landscape mode not portrait.
Top Tips for Dressage - as with any dressage test, your test should be first and foremost, accurate and relaxed. Focus on showing a partnership with your horse and enjoy yourself.
Your test may be read for you if you need.

Performance EQ can be added to any entry for an additional fee of £20.
Side by side analysis allows month by month feedback.
Add Performance EQ to your Entry
In addition to a marked and commented test sheet for the dressage and ease of handling obstacles, Performance EQ provides an opportunity for riders to receive detailed video feedback on their performance. Using advanced analysis with VoiceOver feedback provides riders with moment by moment ways to improve and build.
